Mr. Roger H. Epstein is the chair of the Tax Department of Cades Schutte law firm in Honolulu.  Prior to joining Cades Schutte in 1972, Mr. Epstein was with the National Office of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C.,  from 1967 to 1972.

Mr. Epstein is a frequent lecturer at tax presentations in Hawaii, on the U.S. mainland and internationally.  Mr. Epstein is A.V. rated in Martindale-Hubbell since 1978; American College of Tax Lawyers; Best Lawyers in America (every Edition that included Hawaii in 22 years); Chambers USA-American Best Lawyers in Business; Best Lawyers in Hawaii; Who’s Who in American Law; Inaugural Recipient: Chaminade Hawaii Tax Institute Hawaii Tax Advisor of the Year 2008. In 2011 he was designated the “Best Tax Lawyer in Hawaii” by BLA, and was the recipient of the Hawaii State Bar Association Award for “Innovations in the Law”.

Mr. Epstein is also actively involved in community activities.  He has been the Co-Host of the Hawaii Forgiveness Project since 2003.  He is a former chairman of the board of the Hawaii State Consortium for Integrative Health Care (1998-2008), and president of the board of the Hawaii Center for Attitudinal Healing (2000-2008).  He is a former trustee of the Queen's Health Systems and Queen's Medical Center (1995-2000); past chairman of the board of the Tai Hsuan Foundation, a Chinese Taoist school for Chinese studies and acupuncture (1980-1995); president and director of the Maitreya Institute, an educational institute founded by Tibetan Buddhists for ecumenical cultural and religious teaching (1984-present); director of the Montessori Community School of Hawaii (1990-1992); and Sunday school teacher for the Unity Church of Hawaii (1988-1994).

Mr. Epstein received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland in 1967.  He earned his law degree with honors from Georgetown University Law Center in 1972, where he served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Review.
